PLYMOUTH — Clarence J. Olson, 89, an area resident for many years, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth after an extended illness.
Clarence was born in Cleghorn, Iowa Aug. 12, 1921.
He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII.
Clarence first married Joella Farrar, who preceded him in death. He married Catherine L. Bradfield Nov. 15, 1975.
He was owner and founder of NO-SLO, Inc.
Clarence enjoyed woodworking, caring for his roses and going to yard sales. He was a member of North Liberty Masonic Lodge #266, F & AM, South Bend Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, a past Worthy Patron of the Plymouth Chapter #26, Order of the Eastern Star. He was also an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson.
Clarence is survived by Catherine, his wife of 35 years; stepchildren, Vern (Erin) Farrar of Frisco, Texas, Sheryl (Mike) Caslow of Donaldson, Bob (Jody) Bradfield of Moline, Ill., Ted (Kathy) Bradfield of Indianapolis; and Bryan (Penny) Bradfield of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joella; and a stepson, S.W. (Butch) Farrar.
Friends will be welcomed by the family at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. Masonic services will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services for Clarence will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the funeral home. The Rev. Denise Anderson, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Donaldson will officiate.
Military rites will be accorded to Clarence at the graveside by the Plymouth American Legion, VFW, and DAV.
Interment will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
