City will look at policy for monitor wells
PLYMOUTH – It’s time for the city of Plymouth to take a look at a recent trend by businesses in the area according to City Engineer Rick Gaul.
Gaul came before the Board of Public Works and Safety to discuss the drilling of monitor wells around by businesses around the city. Who will be responsible for those wells in city right of ways if damage should occur was Gaul’s concern.
Several businesses around the city – Price Cleaners and Marathon – have already drilled the wells and Gaul said his office had a request for another filed on Friday by Whitley Products. He said that wells 40 feet deep are drilled with a casing and samples are drawn from them at various periods of time.
Gaul said that he was unsure the exact reason for the wells but knew that they were required by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management at times and that businesses also drill them to comply with due diligence stipulations in preparing financial packages.
