We have all heard the story of Chicken Little and how he was sure the sky was falling. As the tale goes he was proved wrong. There is another story about the future that is true. It can be found in the 13th chapter of Mark in your Bible. The son of man will be coming in clouds with great power and glory. We don’t know the date; we don’t know the hour. For all we know, it could be this year, or 10,000 years from now. God’s word tells us the truth, but not the whole truth. Jesus will come again and although we don’t know the day or hour, we are to believe it will happen.
The word of God never changes and his word is truth. We constantly change and often what we say is not the truth. We can be in a state of friction over these differences. Despite the stated facts, we can still have a wonderful relationship with our creator. Jesus Christ, God’s only son walked among us as an example of how we can live in harmony with God. Throughout the New Testament we are given instructions on how our lives can be made complete by inserting God’s will in place of our own.
Question: If you knew this was your last day on earth, would you live it showing others how much you care? Would you live it to the greater glory and honor of God? Would you live it in loving service to those who need it most?
Truth: One day, it will be your last day on earth. Maybe it’s today or tomorrow. Maybe a thousand tomorrows from now, but one day it will be your last.
On S.R. 19 going south from Elkhart to Nappanee that is a sign alongside of the road. It says: “Only one life twill soon be past, and only what’s done for Christ will last.” I can remember a friend of mine reading that sign as we past it one day. If trouble is to the left of me and worry to the right then thank God the road goes straight.
