TIPPECANOE — Carole M. Koontz, 77, of Tippecanoe, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 8:05 a.m. at home in the care of her family. She had been in failing health.
Carole was born Nov. 4, 1934 at home in Bremen to Minna and Dillman Manges. 
She has been a resident of the area all her life. Carole was a 1952 graduate of Bremen High School.
She was a homemaker and was secretary of Koontz and King Excavating and River Ridge Inc. She also was a faithful member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church, Bourbon Homemakers Club and the Bourbon Red Hats group. Carole very much enjoyed her friends and coffee shop women’s group.
June 20, 1952 she joined in marriage to Gerald F. Koontz who died July 31, 2008. Carole is survived by five children; Michael Lee Koontz, Ann Marie Harrell both of Bourbon, James Ray Koontz of Tippecanoe, Julie Kay Shaw of Lafayette and Lisa Carole Drubert of Etna Green. Carole loved her 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with a sister Leona Holdread of South Bend, four brothers; Wayne, Burton, Evan and Donald Manges all of Bremen
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Ellen Lorraine Leazenby and a brother Dean Manges.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, and for one hour before services Thursday in the church.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, with Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions to: Marshall County Hospice and Palliative Care, Bourbon First United Methodist Church or Potawatomi Wildlife Park in her memory.
