PLYMOUTH — C. Lowell Filson, 86, of rural Plymouth, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at 5:47 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
Lowell was born March 24, 1926 at Plymouth to Russell and Grace Coplen Filson. He was a lifetime resident of Marshall County. Lowell had retired from farming and had been a machinery mechanic and salesman. As a faithful member of the Inwood United Methodist Church he had served as a janitor, deacon, lay leader and song leader. In his spare time he enjoyed his cats and creating things with woodworking.
He was an honored United States Veteran serving during World War II in the 773rd Tank Destroyer division as a gunner.
Sept. 22, 1946 he joined in marriage to Lamora Seymour who survives along with his two sons; Dennis and wife Linda Filson and Stanley and wife Lynne Filson all of Plymouth. He was further blessed with his five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sisters; Kathryn and Virgil Kluwicki of Texas, Carol Thompson of California and his brother Banks and Rudy Filson of Plymouth.
Preceding in death was a sister: Theada Carlisle.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Inwood United Methodist Church, 11211 Hawthorn Road with Pastors Gail Law and Brad Thornton officiating. Friends may visit for one hour before the funeral services at the church.
Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions to: Inwood United Methodist Church in his memory.
