Buzzard sentenced to federal prison

November 23, 2012

Jason Buzzard, 34 of Plymouth, was sentenced to eight years in federal prison and four years of supervised release in U.S. District Court this week after pleading guilty to charges of Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine.
The case was the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Indiana State Police and the Plymouth Police Department that began in late 2010.
On July 25, 2011, Indiana State Police, South Bend Police and Metro Special Operations raided a South Bend home at the request of the Chicago office of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Arrested was the resident of the home, Joe Mayer, but police at that time said Mayer was not the target of the raid. The targets of the investigation were Buzzard and Shayla Montague, and also Nicole Garcia. Garcia was taken into custody in Plymouth that same day after a raid at a home on West Adams Street.
Montague, 21, also of Plymouth, was sentenced by District Judge Jon DeGuilio to 30 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine earlier this year.
