PLYMOUTH — Burdette M. “Babe” Guyse, age 85, of Plymouth, passed away at 12:03 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Plymouth.
Babe was born Oct. 2, 1927, in LaPaz, to Thomas Carson and Eva (Jackson) Guyse. Babe married the former Betty J. Palmer, in Burr Oak, on Dec. 25, 1947. They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Together they raised their four children. Babe worked at AM General and Studebaker in South Bend. He proudly served his country, in the Army, during WWII. Babe had been a member of the Moose Lodge, in Plymouth. Babe and Betty have been Plymouth area residents all of their lives.
Babe is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Gusye; their daughters, Jacqueline K. Cordell of Plymouth; Shirley A. (Dan) Whitmire of Plymouth; Thomas W. (Charlene) Guyse of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and Paul A. Guyse (companion Scott Bailey) of Long Beach, Calif. Also surviving are six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his half brothers, Jack Ross of Florida and Glenn Ross of Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his sister, Genevieve and his brothers, Edward, Eugene, LaVerne, and Robert.

Babe’s family would like to thank everyone, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, for the wonderful care he received during the past six years, while living there.
