KOUTS — Brian M. Shutske, 46, of Kouts, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at home. He was born Aug. 2, 1964 in Valparaiso to Gerald M. and Doris Mary (Siddall) Shutske.
Brian graduated from Kouts High School, attended Purdue University and graduated from the Automotive Mechanic program at Ivy Tech. He owned and operated Shutske’s Service Station in Kouts for seven years and had worked the last 17 years as a machine operator at Merit Steel.
Brian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kouts where he was active in the St. Mary’s Men’s Group, music ministry and St. Mary’s Cemetery Association. He enjoyed playing guitar, was a former member of the Kouts Volunteer Fire Department, a Cubs fan, and enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting.
May 5, 1990 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Hebron he married Tammy Marietta, who survives, along with four children: Becky, Matt, Rachel and Jason. Also surviving are one sister, Linda (John) McNeil of Plymouth; two brothers, Larry (Susan) Shutske of Olympia, Wash. and Jeff (Jane) Shutske of Crown Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 5 at 10 a.m. (CDT) directly at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Tibbs and the Rev. Derrick Dudash concelebrating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. (CDT) at Kosanke Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Shutske Benefit Fund at First Source Bank.
