Bremen native Young to compete at Midwest Regional Fencing Championships

March 8, 2013

Bremen native and Cleveland State University men’s epeeist Levi Young is currently finishing a stellar sophomore season for the Vikings, as he prepares to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships at Notre Dame University this weekend.
The Penn graduate has had a strong year all season long for CSU, adding 14 wins against only four defeats for ninth place in the epee at the Midwest Conference Championships, bringing his record to 78-24 in the process.
In addition to achieving 13 wins against 2 losses at both the Case Western University Duals and the Detroit Mercy University Duals, Young added another 16 wins against only 2 losses at the CSU Duals. He is currently ranked an ‘A 2011’ in Epee by the United States Fencing Association and trained at the Escrime du Lac Fencing Academy in Mishawaka.
This weekend’s Midwest Regional Championships determine which men and women will represent the Midwest in each weapon category — foil, saber, and epee — in the NCAA Championships held later in the month in San Antonio, Texas.
