Bremen hires Ryan Eakins as new b-ball coach

BREMEN — Bremen High School has hired former Mount Vernon Nazarene University JV coach Ryan Eakins as its new head basketball coach.
Eakins was the JV men’s basketball coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene in Mount Vernon, Ohio during the 2010-11 season and is a former assistant coach at his alma mater, Grace College. He is moving to the town of Bremen where he plans to be a substitute teacher in the Bremen Public School System.
Eakins played basketball at Grace College and Seymour High School.
A three-year player at Grace, Eakins was a member of the basketball team that twice advanced to the Elite Eight of the NAIA National Tournament in 2008 and 2009. At Seymour, he helped the Owls to an overall record of 41-25 in three years, and he placed in the state’s top 10 in free throw shooting percentage in 2006. He also played varsity baseball at Grace College for four years.
