Bremen falls short despite strong defensive effort

December 13, 2010

BREMEN — The wins might not be there yet for the Bremen boys basketball team, but improvement is.
A year ago, South Central beat Bremen by 29 points. It was a different game Saturday night, as Bremen had its chances in a 47-40 loss to the Satellites.
“The effort is always going to be there, and we executed the defensive game plan to perfection,” Bremen coach Kyle Hanyzewski said. “The only problem was our offense didn’t show up tonight. We just have to get those two going together, and when we do on the same night, we can beat some teams.”
Bremen shot 37 percent (16-for-43) from the field and took just five shots from the free throw line, where it was outscored 11-1.
“Three of our missed free throws were the front ends of one-and-one, so we really hurt ourselves right there,” Hanyzewski said. “That’s kind of crept up on us the last two games. It’s frustrating because we spend a lot of time on it.”
