Bremen’s Slabaugh signs with Bethel

December 17, 2013

BREMEN — Bremen senior Sara Slabaugh has signed a letter of intent to attend Bethel College, where she will run track and cross country for the Pilots.
”I believe Bethel is a fantastic place for Sara to flourish as an athlete and a person,” said Bremen High School head track coach Mark Yoder. “She is extremely dedicated to her training and has fought through much pain and adversity in recent seasons to earn the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. Bethel’s program is strong and Sara will help to continue their current trend of making news at the national level. She will be under the tutelage of an excellent coaching staff who will undoubtedly maximize her running ability.”
Slabaugh is a three-time Most Outstanding Runner in cross country and track and has earned Northern State Conference honors four times. Since a freshman, she has qualified for cross country regionals every season — including one semistate appearance — and is also a three-time regional qualifier in the 1600-meter run with the Lady Lions track team. In addition to running, Slabaugh is a two-time All Northern State Conference basketball selection.
“I am very blessed to have coached a young woman who could blend a fiery competitor’s spirit with a humble and grace-filled attitude like Sara,” said Yoder.
