Boyer is Riverside assistant principal

July 25, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Steven Boyer will start the 2012-13 school year as Assistant Principal of Riverside Intermediate School in Plymouth.
Boyer joined the Plymouth Schools in 2006 as a Language Arts teacher at Lincoln Junior High. His appointment was approved unanimously by the Plymouth School board Tuesday by a vote of 4-0. Board member Todd Samuelson was absent from the meeting.
Boyer replaces Jeni Hirschy who accepted the position as Principal of Riverside Intermediate earlier this month.
In addition to teaching eighth grade in the Language Arts Department at LJH, Boyer served on several committees including those addressing leadership and accountability. He also initiated an after-school reading program designed to enrich high-achieving readers.
He served as a coach for the English Academic Super Bowl Team, leading one to a state championship. He also coached football, cross country, and basketball.
While at LJH, Boyer collaborated in case conferences to develop IEP (Individual Education Plans) 504s, along with other intervention plans and worked with remediation for at-risk students.
He graduated from Triton High School in 2002, received a Bachelor of Science from Manchester College in 2006 and a Masters of Arts in Education in 2012 from Indiana Wesleyan University.
He student taught at both the Tippecanoe Valley High School and Tippecanoe Valley Middle School, both in Mentone, and Portage Middle School, Ft. Wayne.
