Blueberry Festival opens today

PLYMOUTH — It’s time. Time for that Marshall County tradition 47 years in the making, the Blueberry Festival.

Here are the highlights for opening day:

The All Star Amusement carnival rides will open at noon until 10 p.m.
At 5 p.m. the Festival will open until 9 p.m. as well as the White Tiger Discovery and First Federal Savings Bank’s Historic Americana.

The Little Miss & Mister Blueberry Contest will begin at 5:30 on the Michigan Street Stage promptly followed by Daphne’s Dolls and their baton twirling.

The recently awarded Senter Stage Dancers will perform at the same time on the Jefferson School Stage.

Registration for the Blueberry Idol Karaoke Competition begins with the competition starting at 6 p.m. and ending 8:30 p.m. at Young Amphitheatre.

If the weather permits, Plymouth Sky Sports will perform in the fireworks area.

Softball will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra will have their concert at 6:30 as well on the Jefferson School Stage.

Tickets will be sold for the headlining Jake Owen Concert on the east side of Centennial Park at 7:30 p.m. Rain or shine the concert will begin at 9 p.m.

Other highlights include the fireworks display on Sunday, Blueberry Stomp race on Monday and the annual parade, which takes place at 9:30 a.m.

A full line of entertainment is set for three stages, with plenty of things for everyone in the family.

Admission to the Blueberry Festival is free, but some attractions charge admission.

There is a charge for parking, but a courtesy tram is available from the parking areas.

The festival is open through the weekend. It closes at 6 p.m. Monday.
