Hewlett-Packard to buy EDS E-mail

Hewlett-Packard plans to buy technology outsourcing company EDS. Hewlett-Packard has struck a deal to acquire Electronic Data Systems. HP expects the deal to close in the second half of 2008. Sasha Salama reports from New York.

Stocks fall; eyes on oil, Wal-Mart E-mail

U.S. stocks lost ground as oil hit a new intraday record near $127 a barrel and a cautious outlook from Wal-Mart heightened worries about the consumer. April retail sales figures released by the Commerce Department showed consumers are resilient in the face of higher costs. Hewlett-Packard shares fell over 5 percent on its $13.9 billion planned acquisition of Electronic Data Systems. Conway Gittens reports from New York.

No rest for the retiring E-mail

A global survey conducted on behalf of HSBC suggests the majority of people are not counting on government support when they retire. The survey, entitled "The Future of Retirement", also found that many would would like the option to work later into their lives. It also threw up the eye-catching finding that most people would rather leave a legacy of laughs than cash.
