By James Costello Sports Writer NAPPANEE — Plymouth manufactured two runs off two drawn walks and two stolen bases by leadoff hitter Brandon Elliott to take an early lead, then capitalized on two NorthWood errors to retake the lead 4-3 in the top of the sixth. But Plymouth’s pitchers couldn’t close it on the mound, the Pilgrims couldn’t find a hit when they needed one against left-handed Panther closer Skyler Titus in the seventh, and they took a 6-4 Northern Lakes Conference loss at North-Wood Monday.

By Dee Grenert Sports Editor PLYMOUTH — Every team wants to excel on Senior Day. Plymouth's softball team took that mission to the extreme. All nine players in Plymouth’s Senior Day batting lineup — including the Pilgrims’ five seniors — contributed at least one hit and an RBI in an 18-0 five-inning Northern Lakes Conference win over visiting NorthWood Monday. Plymouth, which rapped out 14 hits altogether, sent 11 batters to the dish in the third inning, and 14 more in the fourth against a team that knocked off the Pilgrims just 17 days earlier.

Reed takes checkers at Plymouth Speedway |

Hayn Correspondent PLYMOUTH — This past Saturday afternoon was a great weekend for the Plymouth Speedway to kick off the 2008 racing season with an open practice followed by a front wheel drive enduro. The Advance Properties 300 was raced at 5 p.m. The race got off to a quick start with the first 100 laps taking only a half hour to complete. By the end of the first 100 laps the race was between four cars — Greenwood’s Casey Davis, Battle Creek’s Dave Miller, Valparaiso’s Kelton Kaechel and Tippecanoe’s Robert Reed.
