The much-talked-about blizzard of 2011 hit Marshall County around 3:30 this afternoon, bringing blowing and drifting snow and frigid temperatures.
Marshall County's Commissioners have issued a Level 2 travel advisory, recommending drivers stay off county roads for non-essential travel.
The town of Culver has declared a snow emergency, and requests vehicles be moved from main streets to avoid possible towing. The Plymouth mayor’s office, meanwhile, has set up an Incident Command Center for the time being at the Plymouth Fire Department.
Schools across the county have closed for Wednesday, having already closed early this afternoon to prepare for the onset of the storm.
The blizzard warning has been downgraded to a winter storm advisory for the entire area Wednesday, but falling and blowing snow will continue today, and travelers are still advised to limit travel to emergencies only.
