PLYMOUTH — Betty J. Grossman, 84, of Plymouth, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.
Betty was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Bourbon, to Harry and Mary (Warnacut) Compton. Aug. 30, 1946, Betty became the bride of Dewayne Grossman, Jr., in a ceremony, in Inwood. The Grossmans had been lifetime residents of the Marshall County area. Together they raised their family. Betty will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed playing euchre and belonged to clubs in Plymouth and Atwood. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and a mother. She owned and operated the Chuck Wagon Restaurant, in Plymouth, and was known, around the area, for her delicious homemade pies. Betty was a former member of the Inwood United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Robin) Howe of Plymouth; her sons, Phillip (Dawn) Grossman of Argos, and Mark Grossman of Florida; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne “Wayne” Grossman, May 8, 1994; her sons, Steven Grossman and Thomas Grossman; her sisters, Naomi Dickson and Rowena Markley; and her brothers, Robert Compton and Ross Compton.
