PLYMOUTH — Bertha V. Chatron, age 95, of Plymouth, passed away at 9:53 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Bertha was born June 5, 1918, in Tippecanoe, to Bennie W. and Nellie Cleo (Knepper) Faulkner. Bertha became the bride of Jesse K. Glass on Oct. 6, 1939. Together they were the parents to one son, Gerold Lewis Glass. Jesse preceded Bertha in death Nov. 6, 1948. Bertha later married Harvey C. Chatron on April 6, 1956. Harvey passed away May 25, 1986. Bertha worked for the Marshall County Bank for many years as a teller. She was known for working all day at the bank, then going home and sewing a beautiful outfit, she’d wear the next day. She was an excellent cook, preparing many wonderful meals for her family, and she enjoyed spending time in her garden. Bertha will be fondly remembered for her love of family and friends. Bertha attended the Church of the Brethren in Bourbon, with her mother, as a child.
Bertha is survived by her brothers, Clifford Faulkner of Lake Placid, Fla. and Walter L. Faulkner of Clearwater, Fla.; her sister, Harriet N. (Edgar David) Miller of Katy, Texas; her stepbrother, Eldon (Mary) Sauer of Plymouth; her sister-in-law, Florence Faulkner of Bourbon; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse K. Glass and Harvey C. Chatron; her son, Gerold Lewis Glass; and her brother, Warren Faulkner.
Bertha’s family would like to express their gratitude, to the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor, for the loving care she received, during her seven years as their patient.
