PLYMOUTH — Berniece Mae Bailey, 89, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. She was born in Jonesboro May 3, 1922 to the late Pastor and Etta Mae (Totten) Williams. Berniece married Edwin Bailey Dec. 23, 1945 and he preceded her in death in March 1969. She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Factory, where she had worked as a secretary. Berniece also worked as the church secretary at First Christian Church of Gas City, where she was a very active member. She enjoyed needlecraft and gardening. She was a “pin-up” girl for War Bonds during WWII.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (Francis “Paul”) Widener, Plymouth and Theresa (John) McGhee, Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Williams, Oregon, Becky Stanley, Florida, and Carolyn Duckwall, Upland; sisters-in-law, Pat Williams, Marion, and Elizabeth Williams, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor and Etta Mae Williams; husband, Edwin Bailey; brothers, Edwin, Bill and Wesley Williams; and sister, Ruth Baker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
Funeral services are at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City with Reverend John Vichary officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
