PLYMOUTH — Former Chicago area resident, Barbara Ann Myszkowski, 71, finished her race into the arms of Jesus at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Barbara has been in the gentle care of her family and the Miller’s staff since 2009 and more recently the Center for Hospice Care.
Barbara was born the eldest child of Peter Paul and Stella Pearl (Szajek) Myszkowski Tuesday, July 25, 1939 in Chicago, Ill. She and her four siblings were raised in the Chicago neighborhood of Brighton Park. There she was a member of St. Pancratius Parish where she attended grade school. She graduated from Lourdes High School with the class of 1956. With determination, she then attended classes at Northwestern University over a period of her working career and attained her degree in history. Prior to moving to Indiana, Barbara lived in Orland Park, Ill. and was active in St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Barbara worked with the 3M Corporation in Bridgeview, Ill. as a secretary and then the Sealed Air Corporation in Hodgkins, Ill. for 35 years as a customer service representative, serving many years as the national customer service manager. She retired in 2006.
Barbara enjoyed the arts as well as movies and she loved to read. She would often reminisce with her friends and family about her extensive travels, many with her dear cousin Maryann. Barbara also liked to work jigsaw puzzles and spend time on her computer.
Left to cherish her memory are two brothers, two sisters and their families. Jerome and Nita Myszkowski of Simi Valley, Calif. and children, Peter, Carol, Tim, Jenny and Patti; William (the late Dianne) Myszkowski of Naperville, Ill. and children, Michael, Rachel and Leah; Theresa and Ken Hansen of Valparaiso, and Donna and Ron Sikorski of Plymouth and children, Amy, Dan and Katie. Many grandnieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Dianne.
