Culver's Park N' Shop will be the site of two benefits, starting this weekend, for Culver Community Middle School student Tia Romig, who is battling a Desmoid tumor on her lower back.
This Saturday, July 23, Emmanual United Methodist Church will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon to raise money for Romig and her family, who will soon travel to Bloomington, Ind., for six to seven weeks of radiation to combat the aggressive tumor.
The following Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the church has organized a Port-A-Pit chicken sale for the same cause.
Proton Radiation is required for Romig's treatment, and is only offered at the Bloomington site. Family members will need to take time off work and incur the costs of driving and meals, besides medical expenses.
