Back home again in Indiana
Plymouth track and cross country athletes Meagan Fisher and Mason Reed recently returned home from the Down Under Track and Field Meet in Sydney, Australia earlier this month.
In this photo sent by the Fisher family, the duo pose with their medals at the tail end of the three-day meet.
Fisher, a 2013 PHS grad who will run for Bethel College beginning this fall, brought home two bronze medals in the 4x400 relay and the open 400, where she ran a 60.9. But her best finish was in the open 800, where her time of 2:16.6 won her the gold.
She also finished fourth in the women’s 18-19 high jump.
Reed, who enters his senior year at Plymouth this fall, earned a bronze medal in the 4x400-meter relay, where he and his teammates combined for a time of 3:30.63. He also placed 10th in his age group in the open 400 in a time of 51.8 and 12th in the 800 in 1:59.
The Down Under Meet, which was in its 13th year, took place over three days from July 5-7 at the Griffith University Gold Coast Campus in Sydney, Australia. Athletes were also given the opportunity to take advantage of some sightseeing over the trip with visits to the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Wildlife Sanctuary as well as the famous Sydney Opera House and other famous landmarks.
