Argos teenager receives community-wide welcome home from hospital

ARGOS — Friends, family and the community were on hand Wednesday in Argos to welcome home one of their own, 15-year-old Courtney DeMont.

DeMont was severely injured in an automobile accident on April 15. She was thrown from a vehicle. She has remained hospitalized since then, including spending several weeks in a coma.

According to news reports, on Wednesday evening at about 6 p.m., DeMont walked part of the way to downtown Argos where she was cheered by a surprise gathering of people.

Among the signs, a police, fire truck and EMT escort and a balloon release, DeMont reportedly was able to address the crowd and tell them how much she appreciated their compassion.

While the teenager still has a long recovery, she will spend it at home, 10-weeks after the single-car accident that happened days before her high school prom.
