Argos proceeding with annexation process

RGOS – Plans to annex 75-acres of land acquired at auction in May are moving ahead, according to updates provided at the Argos Town Council meeting Wednesday.

Town Attorney Derek Jones told the council that the petition was ready to be signed in which Council members, as owners of the recently-acquired land, would petition themselves as the Town Council to annex the 75 acres.

Council member Mark VanDerWeele reported for the Argos Redevelopment Commission that they were meeting with Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Todd Samuelson at 6:15 p.m. June 25 to discuss making the parcel “shovel-ready” (having sites and utilities in place so that a company could come in, quickly construct a building, and be in production within three or four months).

The cost of this site prep work would be between $15,000 and $25,000, VanDerWeele said. However, IMPA (Indiana Municipal Power Association) will pay 50% of the cost up to $10,000.
