Annual derby is Jan. 28

January 17, 2012

BREMEN — The Bremen Conservation Club will be hosting its 9th annual ice fishing derby Saturday, Jan. 28, (ice conditions permitting), or with an alternate date of Feb. 11, at Lake of the Woods, Bremen, Ind. Registration begins at 5 a.m. at the Community Building and fishing will be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10. The Club will again involve the Bremen Boys and Girls Club and will again share proceeds with the organization.
Cash prizes of $200 for first place to $25 for fifth place will be awarded for contestants who catch the “longest” total length of legal fish. Only fish over six inches will be measured. Similar youth prizes for the top three finishes will be awarded. A $25 bonus will be given for the single longest fish measured.
Fishermen, as well as non-fishermen, who wish to donate the $10 entry fee are eligible for a $250, $150, and $100 cash raffle and door prizes; and can buy a pancake and sausage, biscuit and gravy all-you-can-eat breakfast for $3. Breakfast is available from 5 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Non-entrants price for breakfast is $5. Lunch will also be available and will be served to fishermen on the lake and to the non-fishing public at the Community Building.
A separate raffle is also being held for an all-day guided musky fishing trip for two compliments of Webster Lake Guide Service on one of the local musky lakes.
The lucky winner will make his own arrangements with the guide service. All needed equipment will be provided. Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5.
This trip can provide the winner the opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime and can be a great learning experience.
Fish, have breakfast or lunch, win some cash and/or door prizes and support the local Conservation Club and the Bremen Boys and Girls Club. For information call Lowell Michaels at 574-546-5802, Lance Gould at 574-360-9091 or Doug Stanifer at 574-546-4355.
