Ancilla Golf Classic sold out; college still seeking sponsors

PLYMOUTH – The Ancilla College Golf Classic has sold out for the fifth year in a row with a full field of 40 teams, but the college is still looking for sponsors, Ancilla announced Tuesday.
“We work hard to put together a top-notch golf outing that everyone will enjoy,” said event organizer Tom Sibal.  “Businesses in the area are very generous and make it possible for Ancilla College to put on a tournament that has everyone going home happy, no matter how they play.”
While the field is set for the annual classic, Ancilla continues to look for hole sponsors as well as a sponsor for the Closest to the Pin Contest at the tournament, which will feature 160 players. Businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities can call Sibal at 574-936-8898, ext. 355.
The tournament is set to take place at the Plymouth Country Club, overlooking Pretty Lake in Plymouth, on Monday, June 10. The tournament — which raises funds for scholarships and tuition assistance for Ancilla students —  will follow the four-person Florida scramble format.
This year’s tourney will feature a catered cook-out lunch provided by Christo’s followed by a prime rib dinner in the PCC club house after the tournament. Golfers will be welcomed at the ninth hole by the “Heavenly Putters”, who offer the opportunity to save a stroke if a golfer gives a small donation and allows a Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Sister to make a putt for them.
New this year is a golf ball drop fundraiser open to the general public. One winner will take home up to $1,000 if their marked ball falls into the hole. A single ball can be purchased for just $5, and there are discounts for multiple ball purchases. The golf ball drop is open to the general public, and you do not need to be present to win. Golf ball drop fundraiser forms are available to download at
