Ancilla gives cheer camp great reviews

November 29, 2012

PLYMOUTH — The Ancilla College cheerleaders hosted a mini-camp Nov. 17, and the experience was deemed a success by the team.
The campers learned basic cheer skills which included chants, cheers and an eight-count dance. They were treated to a pizza lunch by Mancino’s Pizza then performed during halftime of the women’s basketball game later that day.
Ancilla’s cheer team, along with the college’s women’s and men’s basketball teams also collected non-perishable food items in exchange for the cost of admission to that days games. Over 150 items were collected and donated for Thanksgiving baskets and area food pantries.
“The campers had a great time learning and did a wonderful job during their performance,” stated Ancilla cheer coach Dianna Cooper. “We like to thank the fans for their generous load of donations, and we’d also like to send out a big thank you to Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders for their hospitality and pizza donation.”
The Ancilla College cheer team plans to host another mini-camp in February.
Ancilla College enrolls 500 students in 17 degree programs. It was founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1937, and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth.
