Ancilla basketball signs NorthWood’s Qaiyim

May 31, 2012

NAPPANEE — NorthWood High School basketball standout Jakyah Qaiyim has signed his letter of intent to play for the Ancilla College men’s basketball program starting in the fall of 2012.
The 6’2”, 185-pound Qaiyim averaged 12 points per game while shooting 57 percent during his senior year at NorthWood. Qaiyim also averaged six rebounds per game and was voted the Panthers’ MVP this past season. He plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Ancilla.
“The coaches and everyone I met at Ancilla were very nice,” said Qaiyim. “They recruited me hard and made it comfortable for me.”
“Jakyah understands how to play and is a great fit for Ancilla,” said Ancilla Men’s Basketball Coach Greg Neeley. “He will have an immediate positive impact on our program.”
