Ancilla’s Lewis headlines list of Chargers selected to All-Region team

November 1, 2011

DONALDSON — Ancilla College sophomore Horraine Lewis has been named first team all-region by the coaches of NJCAA Region 12, the college announced on Monday.
Lewis was joined by freshmen teammates JaCoby Smith and Manny Awuku, who both earned second team all-region honors. Lewis, Smith, and Awuku were all eligible for all-region honors by virtue of their selections to the MCCAA All-Conference team a week ago.
“We’re very proud of them,” said Ancilla College men’s soccer coach James Drzewiecki. “All three guys played a big role in our success this year. I can’t recall a year when our region was so competitive, and these players were difference makers who helped us keep pace. They deserve the honors.”
Lewis (Cornwall College/ Hopewell, Jamaica) will leave Ancilla as one of two players in program history to earn back-to-back all-conference honors. The defensive midfielder was a second team all-region pick one year ago.
