Alice C. Pearson

PLYMOUTH â€” Alice C. Pearson, age 89, of River Park, passed away at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 in her residence.
Alice was born to Michael Joseph and Mary Ellen (Herrick) Bauman on June 23, 1923 in Mishawaka. With her family coming from St. Joseph County, she had been a Marshall County resident since 1931. She attended Hibbard and Culver schools and graduated from Plymouth Lincoln High School in 1941. Alice married her first husband, Gail E. Smith, on March 28, 1942, who is now deceased.
She married Amos H. â€śSonnyâ€ť Pearson on Dec. 27, 1953 and shared many happy years together before his passing Jan. 10, 1983.
Alice worked at Biomet for 23 years in production packing until her retirement in 1990. She was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose for more than 50 years, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 424 in Bourbon, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1162 in Plymouth, and the AARP Marshall County Chapter. She became a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren and on Jan. 13 of this year. Alice would volunteer for many community activities and events. She loved dancing and was on a team for many years with the LaPaz Ladies Bowling League.
Alice is survived by two sons, a daughter and families. They are; James Lee (Dianne) Smith of Plymouth and children, James Scott (Cristin) Smith of Poteet, Texas and Michael Thomas Smith of South Bend. Mary Anne Manzer and her children, Kathy Anne (Terry) Sillitoe, Karen Sue Sandoval, Daniel Rapp and twins; Titan A. Manzer all of Florida and Toby A. Manzer of Plymouth. Steven Ray (Debby Sue) Smith of Lampasas, Texas and children, Jason Leon (Grace) Smith of Killeen, Texas and Joshua Shane (Trina) Smith of Lampasas, Texas.
A stepson Jack Dean (Bev) Pearson of Plymouth survives with 18 stepgrandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and her caregiver and loving niece Lynn Fall. Her surviving siblings are; Lois M. (Art) Morrill of Argos, Doris E. (Dean) Anders of Niles, Mich., Robert E. Bauman of Argos and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Amos, stepsons: Roger Allen Pearson and Tommy Lee Pearson and siblings; Ellen K. Rosebaum, Joan Faust, Michael J. Bauman Jr., Howard E. Bauman and Lawrence P. Bauman.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 from 3-7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where calling will resume at 1 p.m. until time of services. Pastor Ruth Yoder will preside and a luncheon will immediately follow burial in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
