Aleta Ann (Rankert) Lehman Ferrell

KOKOMO â€”Â Aleta Ann (Rankert) Lehman Ferrell, 79, of Seymour, formerly of Kokomo, passed away Aug. 2, 2012 at 8:16 p.m. at her daughterâ€™s residence in Seymour. Aleta was born May 4, 1933 in LaPaz to the late Frank and Elsie Rankert. She married Gene Lehman in 1951. He preceded her in death. She married Robert Owen Ferrell in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1986. She graduated from LaPaz High School in 1951 as Valedictorian. She resided in Vallejo, Calif. from 1951 to 1956, several towns in northern Indiana from 1956 to 1964, Kokomo from 1964 to 2012, and Seymour from March 2012 to present. She was employed with American Optical in Plymouth from 1960 to 1964, then with Tenbrook Sales in Kokomo from 1964 until 1994 when she retired. She enjoyed traveling, family activities, crafting, and especially enjoyed needle-arts and church activities. She was a member of St. Lukeâ€™s United Methodist Church in Kokomo.
Survivors include one daughter; Deborah Lehman Laitinen (Dave) of Seymour, three grandchildren; Tyler Laitinen (Lisa) of Sydney, Australia, Reid Laitinen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kelsey Laitinen of St. Louis, Mo., one sister; Evelyn Zumbaugh of Plymouth, one brother; Frank (Irma) Rankert of Kokomo.
Aleta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Lehman; husband, Robert Ferrell, two sisters and brothers-in-law; Crystal (Roland) Metsker and Helen (Don) Tracy, three brothers and sisters-in-law; John (Irene) Rankert, Denzel (Shirley) Rankert, and Francis (Vivian) Rankert.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Services will be at 2 p.m. at the mortuary, with Rev. Mitch Norwood and Rev. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Lukeâ€™s United Methodist Church 700 E. Southway Blvd., or Schneck Medical Center Foundation (Hospice), 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour, IN in memory of Aleta. Envelopes will be provided by the mortuary.
