In an explosion of gleeful chaos, NorthWood players, staff and fans hoist Jakayah Qaiyim to their shoulders as he raises the sectional championship prize trophy for all to see. Qaiyim led the Panthers with 17 points. Come sectional time, seniors are supposed to step up and lead the way and that was exactly what happened for the NorthWood Panther boys basketball team, as Derek Yoder and Jakayah Qaiyim combined for 23 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists to boost the Panthers to a 58-45 victory over West Noble in the Class 3A sectional title game at The Pit. The win was the sixth straight for the red-hot Panthers, and marked just the fourth sectional title in school history and the first-ever for NorthWood mentor Aaron Wolfe. NorthWood advanced to the championship game with wins over Tippecanoe Valley and Lakeland, while West Noble downed Fairfield and Wawasee to earn their spot in the final.
