‘Rudolph’ run Dec. 1
NAPPANEE — Runners, walkers and generous area residents can take part in an a fun event that began last year to benefit the Family Christian Development Center’s Christmas Jubilee.
“Run, Run, Rudolph!” is hosted by NorthWood’s National Honor Society members and will take place this year Saturday, Dec. 1 at McCormick Creek Golf Course.
Heather Bontrager has been with NorthWood for five years as a library media specialist and co-sponsor (with Dina Koble) of the NHS.
“Last year they raised $1,210 toward the cause,” Bontrager explained. “The kids directly use the money to buy the gifts for the other teens and they really enjoy that.”
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race/run begins at 9:30 a.m.
It’s $15 per person to take part and those that register before Nov. 26 will receive a T-shirt as well (while supplies last).
“There will be ribbons for first, second ,and third place in the mens and the womens categories and that’s for both the 3K and the 5K,” Bontrager explained. “But this isn’t just a competition. It’s an event for all ages and abilities. People can run, walk, bring their family, their pets — it’s all to raise proceeds to go toward the Jubilee.”
Light refreshments will also be offered to participants and families of four or more that want to attend pay only $10 per person.
Register by calling Bontrager at the high school at 574-773-4099 or visit the Facebook page “Nappanee Run, Run, Rudolph! 5K.”
