‘Don’t Touch that Dial’ set for Saturday in Bremen

BREMEN — If you enjoy classic songs from popular television shows and movies, you’ll really like “Don’t Touch that Dial,” the Bremen High School Swing Choir’s Spring Sing.
“’Don’t Touch that Dial’ has a great variety of music from movies and television from all decades,” said Kathy Overmyer, director. “It’s sure to be a really funny show as well with a few extra clips from TV commercials and many special numbers by individuals. The students have been working very hard and the overall showmanship of the group is really great! And they sound pretty darn good, too!”
Spring Sing 2011 will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14 in Bowen Auditorium. Tickets are $5.
Overmyer shared two personal highlights of the show — “Somewhere” from West Side Story and “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
“’Somewhere’ is a really difficult piece and the kids have shown so much musicianship while learning it. It’s a really emotional song and I think the kids have learned a great deal about putting that emotion musically into the song,” Overmyer said.
She likes “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” because the girls are so “sassy” while singing it.
