‘Dig Into Reading’ at Bourbon Public Library
BOURBON — Everyone can “Dig Into Reading” this summer at the Bourbon Public Library. Registration begins May 28 for a summer of fun and prizes.
• Babies birth-2 years old can track reading/activities to be entered into a drawing for grand prizes from Misty Werly Photography, Blessed with Bows, Goodies Galore Cookies and Tupperware. Books read will also count toward the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
• Kids can explore themes of pirates, archeology, dinosaurs, and dig with crafts and activities each week in June. Preschool-second-graders can listen, dig, and create Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. or 3-4 p.m. Third-sixth-graders can move, dig, create, play Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m. or 3-4 p.m.
The library will have weekly drawings for sport bags, pizza certificates, UPS football and basketball, Triton boys basketball memorabilia and grand prizes — Potawatomi Zoo passes, South Bend Silver Hawks tickets, and Science Central passes.
Teens can read “Beneath the Surface” this June. The library will hold weekly drawings for sport bags, pizza certificates, and more, and grand prize drawings — bowling package, T-shirts, and more.
• Adults can “Dig Into Reading” with weekly drawings for restaurant certificates, and grand prize drawings — Colts tickets, Thirty-One, Bounce House Rental from Stichter Ventures, Tupperware, UPS, Boat House Restaurant, Ponderosa, and Java Trail.
As a bonus event for everyone, IN Wild’s exotic animal presentation at the Triton Elementary gym will be Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. Fourth-eighth-graders can play video games in The Game Truck on Tuesday, July 30 from 2-4 p.m. if an extra reading goal is met in July. Triton Elementary students who complete their goals will have an ice cream party with Mr. Riffle and Mr. VanHouten, and a pizza party if students complete their reading goal and attend the activities each week in June at the library.
