Festival has much to offer

September 11, 2011

Event organizers for the Nappanee Apple Festival not only know how much goes on behind the scenes to make the event possible, but also exactly how much the festival has to offer. Visitors of the annual festival may come a dozen times and still not see all there is to see or experience during the four-day event. Kami Bunch is managing the craft booths this year and fell into the role naturally.

VanSchoonhoven is celebrity act for 2011

September 11, 2011

Nappanee’s 2011 Apple Festival has a special guest this year that has an amazing story, one that is as American as

In 1989 his family moved to Oregon where they lived in an Army tent and VanSchoonhoven and his older brother Josh were homeschooled. Because there were no structured gym classes or sporting events to benefit from, the boys instead, rode their bicycles to keep fit. And so the story goes

Police say ‘be aware’

August 29, 2011

The start of school brings increased bus traffic and children waiting or walking near roadways. The Indiana State Police reminds motorists to watch for children in school zones and waiting to board busses, especially in the early morning hours. Remember, whenever the school bus stop arm is extended drivers are required by Indiana law to stop. Disregarding a school bus stop arm is a class B misdemeanor punishable with up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Troopers will have zero tolerance for anyone disregarding a school bus stop arm or speeding in a school zone.
