October 6, 2014

The city has started hydrant flushings overnights through Thursday. Work hours are 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Residents may notice some discoloration of water in the early mornings. Be cautious when washing clothes with such water. There will also be some standing water in streets until it has time to drain, so be careful. The flushing at non-peak hours saves draining the water towers.

Biggest Grant Ever

September 13, 2014

NAPPANEE — When the windfall has to do with water, it is a waterfall.
Napannee was gloriously drenched in one when Mayor Larry Thompson joined U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly and Congresswoman Jackie Walorski to announce a $29 million USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant to the city.
It is the largest such grant ever received by the city.
The particulars include $12.8 million in an outright grant, which means it will be spent and never have to be repaid and $15.8 million in low-interest loans, up to 40 years at two percent interest.
