Acadmies clinic hoped to be a ‘win’ for employees, school alike

December 17, 2011

The largest employer in Marshall County is now also a health care provider for its many employees, and Culver Academies Human Resources Director Diane Avery couldn’t be happier.

Avery says the genesis of the idea began two years ago, when she read an article about medical practice coming full circle and the rebirth of a popular trend in the 1960s for large organizations to host onsite health clinics for their staff. With today’s rising health care costs, she says, institutions such as the Academies are seeking ways to keep those costs down.

The Warriors went on to score 16 points in the first quarter, highlighted by 3-point buckets from Bryan McKinney and Kyle Krohn, who co-led Winamac as two of three players with 13 points for the night, along with Shidler.

CBGC members learn to servant lead

December 14, 2011

Culver Academies hosted a group of some 30 members of the Culver Boys & Girls Club recently, for an afternoon of fun, food, and leadership training.

"The goal," says Academies student Caitlynn Fortner, who led the day's activities along with other students, "is that Culver students get a chance to give back to the community through teaching. We understand that as Culver students we learn leadership as a crucial part of our curriculum, and we want to educate others that may not have the opportunities to lead like we do here."
