We’re fortunate to have an expert in the field to guide us on our journey, in the form of Paul McLeod (learn more about Paul in his bio at the end of this article). We’ll return to our trip up Main Street in future installments.

Culver women 'paint the town pink' for breast cancer awareness

November 5, 2011

Culver residents Karen Easterday and Sue Roth wanted breast cancer to get some attention during the month -- October -- dedicated to its awareness, and it seems fair to say they succeeded handily. It's hard to miss two women decked out in bright pink, adorned with pink feather boas, and wearing t-shirts with the text, "Yes they're fake -- my real ones tried to kill me!" as they walk through the business districts of Culver.

That visibility, of course, was the whole point, say Easterday and Roth, both of whom have battled the disease and won.

"It started as a joke," says Roth.

Rebels defeat Culver 26-21 for Sectional 33 championship

November 5, 2011

CULVER — Championships are often awarded to the team that makes the fewest mistakes.
A bad punt snap turned into a big-play South Newton touchdown to give the visitors some breathing room in the third quarter, and Culver Community gave up three turnovers, including a game-sealing interception inside the South Newton 5-yard line with 14.5 seconds on the game clock in a down-to-the-wire 27-21 Sectional 33 championship loss to the No. 8 Rebels at home at Cavalier Field Friday.
