Locals share ideas at ‘town hall’ meeting on museum’s future

May 26, 2012

Several options were brought to the table at the May 12 "town hall" style meeting hosted by the Antiquarian and Historical Society of Culver at the Culver Elementary gymnasium, but the central goals of the meeting were to get ideas flowing, and to enlist the voices, minds, and hands of the Culver community in preserving its history.

The meeting was motivated by the 18-month time frame before the Center for Culver History, the AHS' museum and research center, must leave its present home in the lower level of the Culver-Union Township Public Library.

Papa’s to celebrate anniversary as Culver's longest-running restaurant

May 19, 2012

Some might think it odd that Culver's longest-running restaurant (and possibly the longest-running in Marshall County) is celebrating its 36th anniversary this summer -- after all, why not 35, last year? Or wait until 40?

But Brian McCormack, co-founder and owner of Papa's in Culver thinks making the restaurant’s 36th a big bash fits the "unconventional" identity of the longtime local favorite, which opened its doors this week (May 16) in 1976.

"We did an after-prom pizza party," he says of the restaurant's very first day. "That was our first run at it."
