November 14, 2011

BREMEN — Area entities are spreading their generosity and assisting the local communities by putting food on tables this Thanksgiving Day. Some are offering meals for the holiday while another does it all year round, but those in need of sustenance — be it physical, spiritual or social — that live in or near Bremen, Nappanee and Wakarusa should have no problem finding a good meal … and even better camaraderie.

Glant awarded leader of the year

November 14, 2011

BREMEN — Sue Glant of Bremen was recently awarded Weight Watcher Leader of the Year for 2011. One award is given per territory (hers includes areas within lower Michigan to Kokomo).
Glant was born and raised in Bremen. Her reasons for becoming a Weight Watchers leader were simple, “I had always been overweight and I joined Weight Watchers in January 1979 because I always started a diet in January,” she said. “Weight Watchers gave me a plan and a meeting so I was accounted for each week.”
No longer an issue, the fine-at-57 lady has led others to lose weight.

November 1, 2011

BREMEN — Swimming pools. Movie stars.
Those are just two of the many fascinating aspects of life in Beverly Hills, as seen through the eyes of the transplanted down-home Clampetts in the popular ‘60s television show, “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Now, Bremen High School brings the characters alive on the Bowen Auditorium stage with the theatrical production of the same name.
“This show is hilarious,” said director Laura Watts.
“It is based off of the television program we all know and love, although I have strongly encouraged the students to make each character their own.”
