Chiropractors take ‘working’ cruise

BREMEN — Drs. Anneka (Parks) and Brent Hayes from Country Chiropractic Center will be out of the office May 8 through May 16 while they take an Alaskan cruise.
It won’t all be a relaxing time off from work, in fact, the two will be learning about what the needs are for those guests and those employed by cruise lines.

Maxinkuckee Singers perform in spring

BREMEN — The Maxinkuckee Singers will be presenting their spring concert series “Makin’ Music — 2012” in the surrounding area. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Knox show at 6:30 p.m. Central time. The Singers will perform at the following dates and venues:
May 7, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 811 Jefferson St., Rochester  
May 9, at Grace United Church of Christ, 307 N. Plymouth St., Culver       
May 14, at Bremen United Methodist Church, 302 W. Plymouth St., Bremen       
May 15, at Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos      

BPS takes part in summer food program

BREMEN –— This summer, Bremen Public Schools is again offering free meals to children.
Weekdays from June 11 through July 27, children ages 1 to 18 will be provided lunch free of charge.
“Bremen Public Schools feels it is very important for a child to get a healthy meal,” said Hope Andrews, food services director for BPS. “This summer program will help children get just that.”

Newest fire department addition is a real tanker

BREMEN — The newest addition to the Bremen Fire Department is a real tanker, and that’s no insult. Funded through approval by the German Township Trustee Ben Baker, the addition was a $229,000 purchase agreed upon by the German Township Advisory Board and fire department.
The 2012 International tanker was ordered from Rosenbauer America of Lyons, S.D. and carries 2,000 gallons of water. It will replace the 1991 International that was sold to a broker and which held 1,500 gallons of water.

BREMEN — Proceeds from the 16th annual Tony Swartzlander basketball game, a contest between Bremen police officers and Bremen boys and girls senior players, were given to Melissa Szpakowski by Bremen Police Assistant Chief Steve Pittman, nephew of the fallen Bremen officer Swartzlander.

BREMEN — Tim Harman, a Bremen resident currently running for state representative, recently responded to a flood of phone calls received by Marshall and Fulton County residents over the weekend claiming that Harman is not pro-life.

PLYMOUTH — Heartland Camera Club of Plymouth announced the winners of its eighth annual juried photo contest at a reception at Heartland Gallery April 15. Drug take back hosted by the Bremen P.D./ISP

BREMEN — The Bremen Police Department and Reserve Officers will again be participating in the National Take Back Initiative sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Saturday April 28 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. residents can drop of their expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs to the Bremen Police officers at Woodie’s Supermarket parking lot, 116 N. Bowen Ave. in Bremen.
