Mystic’s Pugh breaks 2-year dry spell with Pepsi Tournament win

August 30, 2011

NOBLESVILLE — With an old, tried and true putter back in his bag that helped him get his last win in 2009, Dave Pugh of Mystic Hills fired off a 5-under-par 67 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville to win the final Pepsi Club Car Tournament Series of the year.
“I switched back just today to the same putter that I used to win back-to-back Pepsi Championships in 2008 and ‘09 — a short putter,” explained Pugh. “Most of my birdies were from within six feet today, but I made a long putt on 17 too.”
Along with the putter, Pugh’s caddie was also successful on the greens.

Luckily for the Grindle family, Taylor’s family chose the latter.
The Third Annual J.D. Taylor Golf Scramble will take place Saturday, Sept. 17 at Rocky Ridge Golf Club in Crawfordsville, and all proceeds from the event will benefit eight-month old Landon Grindle, the son of 1999 Plymouth High School graduate and former Argos High School Boys Basketball coach Joel Grindle and his wife.

Rockies like Ike in win over Zebras

August 27, 2011

PLYMOUTH — The young Rockies did some growing up Friday night.
After failing to convert on a pair of fourth-down conversions from the Rochester 2-yard line in the game’s opening 13 minutes and giving up a pair of big play touchdowns in the second and third frames, Plymouth found itself down 13-0 early in the second half.
But the Rockies finished five of their next six drives and surrendered just one more Rochester score to claim a 34-20 come-from-behind win over the visiting Zebras at The Rockpile.
