ARGOS — Sitting out intermittent stretches of the season with a hamstring injury, it’s taken awhile for Argos freshman Megan Ditmire to get rolling. Once she did, she brought the whole Argos squad with her.

Girls cross country
New Prairie unseats Bremen for NSC CC championship
New Prairie grabbed the top three spots and four of the top five as it unseated Bremen for the Northern State Conference championship at the NSC girls cross country meet Tuesday in New Carlisle. It was New Prairie’s 16th conference title in the last 20 years.
The Lady Cougars finished with a dominant 18 points ahead of Bremen’s 44, while Triton finished with 75 points, Jimtown had 89 points, and Culver Community, Knox and LaVille all raced at the meet.

Houston Hodges leads Wabash defense in homecoming shutout

CRAWFORDSVILLE — Plymouth graduate Houston Hodges was voted the Wabash Player of the Game and the Defensive Player of the Game as Wabash handed visiting Kenyon a 49-0 win on Homecoming Day Saturday.
The freshman had a huge strip on the first Kenyon possession and had an interception return 74 yards for a touchdown only to be called back due to a penalty.
Hodges also recorded three tackles at the game along with older brother Austin Hodges, while fellow Plymouth grad Brock Smith finished the game with five kickoffs for 304 yards.

CMA closes out Rockies, 2-0

WARSAW — Culver Military Academy’s plan was to score early and use some quick attacking to overwhelm the Rockies.
That’s just what the Eagles did as they handed Plymouth a season-ending 2-0 loss in the opener at the Class 2A Warsaw Boys Soccer Sectional Monday.

Indians stop Pilgrims
Plymouth suffered a setback at sectional rival South Bend St. Joseph’s Monday, falling in four games 25-16, 25-16, 24-26, 27-25.
Amber Redinger led the Lady Pilgrims with 15 kills, while Marissa German tallied 13. Mikayla German served up five aces, while Marissa German and Andria Shook each passed out eight digs, and Amber Redinger finished with three solo blocks and five block assists.
The Lady Pilgrims slide to 17-13 with the loss.

Plymouth wins Bremen Tennis Sectional

BREMEN — Was there ever any doubt?
Plymouth grabbed its 15th straight sectional crown Saturday, beating host Bremen 4-1 at DeSantis Courts. The championship represented the program’s 22nd overall.
“Plymouth’s just a great team and has a great coach,” said Bremen Head Tennis Coach Andrew Rohde. “They just come out to play every single match. They’re a great program so there’s no shame in losing to Plymouth. We’re not giving up or anything, we’re going to keep fighting. Our guys came out, and they played well, but Plymouth’s just a better team and they got us today.”

Banfich leads Princeton at Notre Dame Invite

NOTRE DAME —  Alex Banfich says she has recovered from the illness and hamstring problems that disrupted her training much of the summer.
Now, if she could just get her stamina back, she’d be all set.
“Yeah, I didn’t quite have it today,” said Banfich, a Princeton University senior, following her 13th-place finish at Friday’s Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational.

Shively directs Trojans to 1st win

BOURBON — Triton football head coach Rodney Younis described quarterback Zak Shively as a general.
The senior signal caller certainly turned in a four-star performance at homecoming Friday.
Shively hit 18-of-25 passing attempts for 261 yards and a trio of touchdown passes, rushed for another, and scored on a two-point conversion run to lead the Trojans to their first win of the campaign by a convincing 41-0 count over winless LaVille in Northern State Conference action.
