Free throws push Dragons past Cavs, 37-30

November 25, 2011

ARGOS — Argos girls basketball head coach Nick Medich searched for an explanation, oddly enough, for how his team beat Culver Community Tuesday.
He quickly eliminated the 36 percent field-goal percentage, 23 turnovers, and generally sloppy play before settling on free throws.
The Dragons drained 15-of-20 tries from the charity stripe — compared to 4 of 7 for the Cavs — and held off Culver in a 37-30 win at Phil Weybright Gymnasium.

CGA’s Neer, Banfich ready for today’s NCAAs

November 21, 2011

TERRE HAUTE — One is winding down her college career, the other just getting started.
Both say they are feeling fine, now, following injuries that set them back at the start of the season.
Each chose an Ivy League college to attend, and at an historic conference championship meet a couple weeks ago — run in a driving snowstorm — they finished the race almost side-by-side.
Now, Alex Banfich and Waverly Neer will square off against each other at today’s NCAA cross country championships, on the same course where each made her mark in high school.
