Lions shut out Trojans, 41-0

BREMEN — Triton Head Coach Rodney Younis knew his team was going to have to put up some points to contend with host Bremen.
Instead the Lions defensive unit created six turnovers while pitching a shutout against the visiting Trojans, and the result was a lopsided 41-0 Northern State Conference win at home Friday at Don Bunge Field.

Falcons run over LaVille for 50-7 win

LAKEVILLE – If you blinked during the first half Friday night, you probably missed a John Glenn score or two.
The visiting Falcons, who crossed the goal line in each of their seven first-half possessions, fired off 50 points before the break — highlighted by four touchdowns from superstar senior running back Josh Anderson – en route to a 50-7 Northern State Conference football win over LaVille at Lancer Field.

Hogan powers Cavs to win at New Prairie
Culver Community senior running back Kevin Hogan ground out 212 yards for four touchdowns, and the Cavaliers claimed a Northern State Conference win on the road at New Prairie Friday, 34-26.
Hogan averaged better than 17 yards per carry as he ran amok at New Prairie, scoring on touchdown runs of 84, 34, 1 and 61 yards.

Brooke Baker powers Bremen in conference win over Culver

BREMEN — Junior middle hitter Brooke Baker put in a strong all-around performance, and Bremen won its Northern State Conference opener with visiting Culver in three games Thursday night, 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.
“Brooke is not one to see herself as the stud player or the go-to player, but the rest of the team sees it that way,” said Bremen Head Volleyball Coach Beth Huppert. “For us to feed her when she has a hot hand, we’re going to ride that; we’re going to go with that.”

LaVille routs Westville
Craig Romero scored twice as five different LaVille players found the back of the net in a 6-1 win at Westville Thursday.
Jordyn Williams, Josiah Lappin, Brandon Layne and Jaime Martin all scored for the Lancers as they outshot their hosts 31-3.
Joey Vest recorded a pair of saves in the win, which pushes LaVille to 10-1-1 on the year.

Argos stops Plymouth 2-0

ARGOS — Argos’ defense played its best game of the season, and the Dragons hit the field fired up in a 2-0 rivalry win over the visiting Rockies at Argos Wednesday.
“They were stoked tonight, they were ready to roll, and mentally I don’t think we showed up tonight,” said Plymouth Head Boys Soccer Coach Josh Martin. “It’s a big rivalry. They wanted it more tonight. They earned it, and they got it.”

Conference season continues in Week 4

Plymouth returns home from a big Northern Lakes Conference victory at Warsaw, while Culver Community hits the road for New Prairie, John Glenn travels to LaVille for a rivalry game, and the Colts pay a visit to Bremen as the Lions host Triton in Week 4.
After last week’s big 29-13 win at Warsaw, the Rockies (2-1, 1-0 NLC) are hoping to carry over that momentum in the second week of NLC play as they host Northridge (0-3, 0-1 NLC).

Plymouth's Barron named to EMU All-Tournament Team

HARRISONBURG, Virg. — Meagan Barron was selected to the Eastern Mennonite University Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament Team over the weekend.
Barron, a 2011 Plymouth High School graduate and freshman at Mary Baldwin College, played four sets as a setter and served the rest of the tournament at outside hitter. The coaches of each of the teams at the invitational voted for their own players as well as opponents’ players in making the selections for the all-tourney squad.

CGA’s Shipley earns spot on Ashland soccer team

ASHLAND, Ohio — Kylee Shipley of Culver has earned a spot on the Ashland University women’s soccer team. Shipley, a 2011 Culver Girls Academy graduate, is majoring in exercise science.

Glenn girls win 10th
Rochester continued to dominate the area improving to 15-1 on the season, shooting a 192 at Indiana National on the Silver Course, while Glenn scored it’s low nine-hole round of the year with a 217 and Lalumiere scored a 255. The Lady Falcons moved to 10-9 on the season with the split. Medalist honors for the evening belonged to Lauren Daurety and Katelyn Foust with 47s for the Zebras.
