The Lincoln Junior High wrestling team went 5-0 at the Laville “King of the Mat” super duals Saturday. The young Rockies stayed perfect on the season at 18-0 with the win.
Lincoln defeated opponents by wide margins all day long, beating North Judson 117-12, Schmucker 76-30, Tippecanoe Valley 120-9 and LaVille 76-40. Lincoln’s boys accomplished their goal of beating traditional power and Penn high school feeder Schmucker, but unfortunately Discovery — another Penn feeder — scored more team points in Pool play than Lincoln.

Cavs hit high note in win over Bremen

February 25, 2012

CULVER — Ethan Pike had a career night for Bremen, but even his game-high 26 points couldn’t counter Culver’s offensive balance or the Cavs’ free-throw shooting.
Three players scored in double figures for the Cavaliers led by junior point guard Collin Stevens’ 20, and Culver knocked down 14 of 19 charity tosses in the final quarter to hand the Lions a 54-50 Northern State Conference loss in the two teams’ regular season-closer at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Friday.

Cox leaves distinguished legacy at PHS

February 24, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Dave Cox never planned to be a head coach. Things just sort of fell into place that way.
Twenty years and more than 300 wins later, Cox announced his retirement as the head coach of the Plymouth High School girls basketball team Wednesday.
“I’ve thought about it, but to really solidify that, all along I knew I would get out of the season because the rigors of the season can give you different emotions. Once you got done and you’d kind of gradually gotten to that point, I kind of decided the last few days that it was time for somebody else to do it,” said Cox.
