Pilgrims lose close contest with Logansport, 8-6

April 20, 2012

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth baseball team lost its second straight game last night, but it wasn’t because the effort wasn’t there.
After getting down six runs in the first two innings the Pilgrims started to chip away at the Logansport lead but just couldn’t get that one timely hit that could turn the tables in their favor, ultimately losing 8-6.

Plymouth nips NorthWood, 3-2

April 20, 2012

PLYMOUTH — With so much on the line, it was an emotional win, and one the Lady Pilgrims needed badly.
As Plymouth and NorthWood players surrounded the No. 1 singles court, Kelly Hoeffler clinched her third set over Kennedy Walter, and with it the Pilgrims claimed a narrow 3-2 win over visiting Northern Lakes Conference foe NorthWood at Centennial Park Thursday.

Lady Pilgrims lose game of inches to Concord

April 19, 2012

PLYMOUTH — It was a game of inches in Plymouth’s Centennial Park last night.
A couple more inches left on a hard line drive by April Hampton in the first could have plated two Lady Pilgrims runs early. Another couple inches to the left and Emilee Keilman could have been standing on second base instead of flying out to the center fielder in the gap. And if Bailey Brown could have stretched her arm out two more inches she may have caught a fly ball to right field that ended up a run-scoring triple for Concord.

Lions hand Culver 10-4 NSC loss

April 19, 2012

BREMEN — Success in the game of baseball often requires a short memory.
When Culver’s first three batters went double, double, triple, and the Cavaliers scored three runs in their first five at-bats, it looked like it might be a long night for Bremen. But the Lions put it behind them and bore down with two runs in the bottom of the first, then tacked on another four in the second en route to a 10-4 Northern State Conference defeat of visiting Culver Wednesday night in Bremen.

Trojans trump Knox in NSC contest

April 17, 2012

BOURBON — With a young lineup and a roster full of injuries, Triton has sometimes had trouble fielding the ball this season.
Luckily for the Lady Trojans, they’ve been able to make up for it at the plate.
Triton’s batting order produced 13 hits — including six during a six-run fourth inning — to help offset five errors, and the Trojans rallied past visiting Knox Monday in the two teams’ Northern State Conference opener in Bourbon, 11-10.
