Cavaliers look to continue streak in West Central rematch

October 31, 2013

CULVER — So much of a team’s post-season success comes down to peaking at the right time.
With back-to-back wins headed into this Friday’s Sectional 41 match-up with West Central, that’s exactly what the Culver Cavaliers seem to be doing.
Not that it’s been easy. Up to Week 9’s regular-season closer with LaVille, the Cavaliers were sitting at 2-6 in the midst of a five-game losing streak against a Northern State Conference slate that included a dominant New Prairie squad that is now No. 1 in the state in margin of victory, as well as top 10-ranked Bremen and Jimtown programs.

Binkley notched 43 goals during a banner year in which the junior striker rebroke his previous single-season school record of 39 scores set last year.

Falcons ready for Hammond after last week’s sectional reprisal at Marian

October 30, 2013

WALKERTON — What goes around, comes around.
The past two seasons, John Glenn has seen its season end with sectional semifinal games at Mishawaka Marian. So when the Falcons drew Marian on the road in their 3A Sectional 25-opener last week, they were ready for a reprisal.
That’s just what they got as they jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a convincing 37-21 win over the Knights.
Glenn thus earned the right to advance to this week’s semifinal at Hammond.
